Another sketch I had to do. However, I had to show my favorite subject.
Because I am such a fangirl for math, and it is my favorite subject, I decided to draw the two infinity signs and work out some problems all over it. I am sure I didn't work out well over half of them since I just copied off some problems my brother gave me from one of his exams. I am sure I copied them wrong.
I dedicate this one to my friend, Will, who I know loves math very much.

I feel so honored that you would dedicate this art to me. Thanks so much Jenny!
This art brings back memories, some very recent and some very old.
Today I was thinking how appropriate the movie title "A beautiful mind" was. The beauty of math is so subtle and most people can't see it. It is easy to appreciate the beauty of good music or good art but the beauty of Mathematics requires training.
In text messages, the symbol ^ often represents raising to a power. For example 3^2 = 9. I notice the date given in your art as 3/2/09. I immediately thought 3^2=9. Whenever I look at numbers, my mind automatically and unconsciously looks for patterns.
In your art, you have the following formula:
e^(i pi)+1=0
When I first saw this formula many years ago, I immediately saw the beauty in it. The five numbers: 0 1 e i pi are the most important numbers in mathematics and this formula shows that these 5 numbers are all related to each other.
This art reminds me of a Mobius strip ( [link] ) and the following very common joke:
Question: Why did the chicken cross the road? Answer: To get to the other side.
Combining the concept of a Mobius strip (an object with only 1 side) with the chicken joke, I made the following joke:
Question: How do you drive a chicken crazy? Answer: You put him on a Mobius strip and tell him to go to the other side.

Roses are red, Violets are blue, Art that is vanilla, Is not from Gorilla
This piece reminds me a lot about you since you have told me how much you like math. I thought perhaps something like this would be to your liking. I'm very glad you like it!
I love the movie "A Beautiful Mind." Although I am displeased that it only enhances the stereotype that people have for mathematicians- odd people. Nevertheless, I think it's a wonderful movie.
If you stop and think, I am sure most people think that mathematics is beautiful in one way or another, and at some point or another. Yet, most of us think it is an ugly thing since it can confuse you if you butcher it. I have gotten comments from my classmates saying that "why do you take advanced Maths?" "How can you like it?" "Isn't it hard for you?" and such. I won't say that I am a prodigy at Maths, because I am not, but I do love it. Maths makes sense to me, and I can be as creative as I like with it. But most people limit themselves with the creativity and sense they can apply to Maths, thus, they hate it. But I am sure that at some point, when a problem has been easy for them, or it has been of great help to them, then they say Math is beautiful. But they only let get it's ten seconds of glory, more or less. You are right when you say it requires training to look at Mathematics as a beautiful thing. You have to first find sense in it, and then love it when you can get creative with it. I think Mathematicians can do things as beautiful as artists do; however, Mathematicians can 'back up' and explain their work thoroughly.
Wow! I hadn't thought in that way of the date I made this. It's an interesting thing. Hehhe'. Most dates wouldn't coincide in that manner.. And I guess the pattern in this one is a funky thing since it's supposed to be a piece devoted to Mathematics. Thank you for pointing this out!!
I will certainly remember that e, 0, 1, i, and pi are the most important numbers in Maths. I would have thought something else.. Perhaps some sort of formula... I don't know. I would have guessed 0 and pi.. Maybe even i. However, not e nor 1. Although I must say I love working with natural bases and logarithms!
Now I feel the need to change the title for the deviation into "Mobius Strip." I also feel inclined to find the correct buttons to punch in my calculator to graph it. I know my calculator has the 3-D graphing option in it..but I have never had a use for it, yet. The Mobius Strip has made me want to use it.
Would you mind if I told this teacher who I really appreciate your joke about the crazy chicken? I will give you credit; don't fear theft!
